AMSC (American Superconductor Corporation) announced another licensing agreement for the company's Windtec wind turbine designs, this time to Beijing Jingcheng New Energy, a Chinese wind turbine manufacturer, which now has a manufacturing base of about 2000 MW annually. This is the sixth Chinese wind turbine manufacturer which has licensed technology from AMSC.
Under the terms of the agreement, Jingcheng has been licensed to manufacture, market and sell AMSC Windtec 2 MW, 3 MW and 5 MW units as well as the 3 MW SuperGEAR model. Jingcheng will also obtain core electrical equipment for these models exclusively from AMSC. The 2 and 3 MW units will enter production in 2011, while the 5 MW and 3 MW Super GEAR units will enter production later on.
