Africa seems to be the next destination for the world’s business. BHEL, India plans to set up a transformer manufacturing plant in Kenya in a joint venture with the Kenyan government. BHEL also proposed to set up hydro, thermal and solar power projects.
India has also offered to help Kenya put in place a standards and labeling program for electrical equipment and an energy conservation building code. India also proposed developing port, airport, road and railway infrastructure in Kenya.
Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi, Uganda and Rwanda, is part of the East African Com- munity (EAC) – a gateway to East Africa.
