The Supreme Court has pulled up multinationals Alstom Hydro and Voith Hydro, which had bid for the 2nd phase of Tehri hydropower project, saying their litigation was delaying the crucial project and causing loss to the nation.
The Supreme Court of India, last week, had asked Tehri Hydro Development Corporation to recommend once again and resolve the dispute between Alstom Hydro France and Voith Siemens GMBH for the bids for turnkey execution of the project. Caught in an intricate litigation for over an year. Fresh bids ordered by the Supreme Court also did not stop the legal fight.
Tehri Pumped-Storage will feature four 250-mw motor-generator units and variable speed pump-turbines. Associated structures include headrace tunnels, upstream and downstream surge shafts, penstocks, butterfly valve chamber, machine hall, tailrace tunnels, and outlet structures. The intakes and other associated structures – such as maintenance gate shafts, cable tunnel, and switchyard – were completed during construction of the Tehri project. Most of the construction adits for the pumped-storage project had been completed, which shortens the development timeline.
